When beginning a new sculpture, I endeavor to capture the moment that caught my attention, and recreate the dynamic atmospheric condition; a sunset, sunrise, rain storm, and aurora borealis, are atmospheric phenomenons that I find remarkable. Working with resin, color, light, and reflective elements, I seek to develop a sculptural environment that communicates on an interpersonal level the universal wonder of these moments.
When beginning a new sculpture, I endeavor to capture the moment that caught my attention, and recreate the dynamic atmospheric condition; a sunset, sunrise, rain storm, and aurora borealis, are atmospheric phenomenons that I find remarkable. Each cast resin sculpture rests within a wooden or metal base, and the LED lighting is housed inside the base. The base is not only functional, but represents a horizon, a subtle curve of the earth. The wooden bases are made from solid, beautifully grained hard woods. Each base is individually designed and fitted to the resin sculpture. The color of the wood and the movement of the grain is also an important consideration.
